[Isis-users] Winisis en Windows 64 bits

Apparently (I haven't tried it) you can run Windows Virtual PC on Windows 7 Home Premium  -
see http://blogs.msdn.com/b/virtual_pc_guy/archive/2010/07/07/installing-windows-virtual-pc-on-windows-7-home-editions.aspx
but you also need to have a Windows XP (or presumably Windows 2000) installation disc to install the "alternative" operating system.

 Giuliana

There are a couple of solutions to run Winisis under Windows 64
bits, I will send a full explanation next week,
(we are working on it), but a short explanation is:

Solution 1
- Install in your Windows 7 the program Vmware Player (Vmware Inc.)  www.vmware.com
this is very flexible (but requires a little of IT knowledge to
    administer it.

Solution 2
Install Windows Virtual PC , but the caveat is that you need Windows
7 Professional or better (original). You cannot install it in Home
    Premium or lower
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx

As  I said before, we are working here in Montevideo with a colleague preparing a manual with the full explanation, and our friend Wenke Adam is waiting for the original to do the translation

The thing is that CDS/Isis or Winisis does not works under this windows. This version of isis just works under a windows of 64 bit below.”  lo que confirmaría que no se puede usar Winisis bajo esta versión¿?

>Please, sorry I’m coming with an old issue but I‘d like to confirm that Winisis does not work under Windows 64 bits.
>I say this because searching in Google I found a Forum where someone recommended choose “Compatibility” option: Windows XP; so somebody could run Winisis in such a mode but some other people could not do so… (Please, see below part of the messages…)
>I have people working with a complex DB which is hard to be efficient in ABCD versión and in a mid term we will have new PCs to use this data base so I’d like to be sure there’s no way to run Winisis under this new Windows versión so to see what to do then…
>By the way, searching in this list messages I found one with the following phrase: ““The thing is that CDS/Isis or Winisis does not works under this windows. This version of isis just works under a windows of 64 bit below.” Which would comfirm that I cannot use Winisis under this version¿?
