One of the problems of metasearch can be solved  if you edit the 
metasearch parameters and
where it says  %HOST% replace by the full host address
There is another problem in Windows and has to do with  Yaz.dll (used by 
Z39.50)
This Yaz has to be compiled for the specific version of PHP you have 
installed
we are working with Diego preparing some instructions explaining the 
problem and how to fix it
