Release Note on New Features, Enhancements, and Bug
fixes

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------

J-ISIS 15 December 2014

===================

1) Free Text Search

   -------------------------

The Free Text Search module is a self-contained software component which is
separated from the inverted file search module.

It allows you to specify search requirements on fields which have not been
inverted and/or to specify conditions which you

would not otherwise be able to indicate through the type of search
expressions allowed by the inverted search module.

2) Global Add/Delete/Replace

   ---------------------------------------

The Global Add/Delete/Replace module is a self-contained software component.

It displays a tabbed window with three tabs: "Global Add", "Global Delete",
and "Global Delete". This module offers three very powerful

utilities for making global changes to the database. That means making the
same change across sets of records. There are three separate

functions: Global add, Global delete and Global replace.

3) SearchHistory

   --------------------

* Contains now Inverted File Search results as well as Free Text
Search results.

* Search terms are now highlighted whenever possible

* The Search Result Set window title contains now the search set
number and database name

* The marked menu is now working properly

4) Long Task Threads are now cancellable

   ----------------------------------------------------------

Long tasks such as import, inverted file search, global add/delete/replace
or free text search are executed in a separate thread

so that the GUI is not blocked. The execution threads were not cancellable
in previous releases, now they can be cleanly cancelled.

5) Import of ISO 2709 MARC files

   ----------------------------------------------

* Import accepts now empty fields as well as empty field occurrence

* The list of encoding supported has been extended so that most of
WinISIS or CDS/ISIS databases can be imported into J-ISIS.

Conversion from the input encoding to UNICODE UTF-8 is done before
storing data into J-ISIS databases.

US-ASCII

UTF-8 Eight-bit Unicode (or UCS) Transformation Format

UTF-16 Sixteen-bit Unicode (or UCS), byte order identified by an
optional byte-order mark

6) Data Entry Module

   ----------------------------

The switch button to Show/Hide Empty fields was not working as expected.
This issue is now hopefully fixed.

7) FST Manager & Re-Index Modules

   ---------------------------------------------------

The FST entry field names are checked so that the user can only enter
alphanumeric or underscore characters.

The FST entry field names are also checked before building the index to
avoid building a corrupted index.

"The FST entry field name will be used as the field name to be used for
creating Lucene fields if present.Otherwise,

J-ISIS will use the field identifier prefixed with an underline character (
_ ). The Lucene field name will be used for indexing and searching.

Important Notes:

i) field selection table entry names should consist of alphanumeric or
underscore characters only and

not start with a digit. For example CD/DVD/Cartridge is not allowed as a
field name but CD_DVD_Cartridge or CdDvdCartritge are allowed;

ii) If several field selection table entries have the same ID, then the
corresponding names should be the same ;"

8) PrintSort

   -------------

The PrintSort Module Window uses a scroll pane so that the PrintSort forms
can be scrolled when some parts are hidden.

9) Indexing Technique 3

   -------------------------------

The algorithm to extract indexing terms for indexing technique 3 has been
changed to recognize correctly the starting and ending slashes.

Web-JISIS 15 December 2014

======================

1) Web-JISIS3.war was not correctly deployed by Jetty while it was well
deployed by Tomcat. This release is correctly deployed by Tomcat and Jetty.

2) Syntax highlighting of terms between <> (indexing technique 2)
introduced wrong display of field data because the <> characters were
interpreted

as html tag delimiters. The bug is fixed in this release.
