A) J-ISIS
*J-ISIS Import performance has been drastically improved*. Time elapsed to
import is much more less than before, it takes about 1 millisecond to
import a record on a computer with an Intel Core 2 CPU and 4GB of RAM. The
bottleneck was in writing records to the Berkeley DB database. By
default, Berkeley
DB will use high levels of synchronization which offer a greater guarantee
that the transaction is persistent to disk, but trade that off for lower
performance. While it is acceptable when doing record editing, updating,
and saving; the trade off for lower performance when doing bulk insert and
writing of records is not acceptable. Thus synchronously flush of the log
on transaction commit for writing is now disabled when importing. That is,
database integrity will be maintained, but if the application or system
fails, it is possible some number of the most recently committed
transactions may be undone during recovery. Import is now very fast, it
takes about 20 seconds to import 20 000 records and near 20 minutes to
import 2 million records.
*BLOB images in REF functions* - You can now use BLOB images in REF
functions. Please have a look to the "ref-blob.pft" file in the PATR
database. The problem was that the Ref function was using a Text context
instead of a HTML context, and this has been changed to use the HTML
context.
*Logging can now be configured and is "OFF" by default*. A new
configuration file called "logback.xml" located in the /etc folder of the
distribution can be edited to get logging information by changing
<root level="OFF">
to
<root level="ALL">
*B) Web-JISIS*
It has been updated to be synchronized with the new changes in J-ISIS 16
March 2014. Thus it now accepts BLOB images in Ref function.
As usual, I would be very grateful if you could take the time to try
J-ISIS. All your comments, suggestions, improvement requests and bug
descriptions are welcome.
Best wishes,
Jean-Claude
