actually "lw=0" will allow any length so you don't have to come up with an arbitrary top limit.

mx  mybase pft=@something.pft  lw=0

by default the print line is 80 chars length, so if your line is longer, mx will insert a <cr> every 80 chars
 to overide it you should use the parameter   lw=   (line width)  with any value up to 8000 chars

 so your command should be   

 mx  mybase pft=@something.pft  lw=8000   etc
