Dear colleagues,

It’s very difficult to balance development and communication, but this time
I think it’s important to come here to share some news about ABCD.

We have reached *version 3.8* with a number of improvements that are well
worth checking out.

But first, I must point out that the ABCD documentation (with great
difficulty) is being produced almost simultaneously with the release of the
version itself; the address is: https://abcd-devcom.github.io/

*Returning to version 3.8*...

This version has finally retired the old toolbar written in dhtmlX. The
toolbar is now in pure HTML and CSS. This will facilitate future
implementations, as ABCD will gradually transition from a traditional
Integrated Library System (ILS) to a more modular Library Services Platform
(LSP).

Within data entry, we now also have the option to:

   1. Organise the form sections into tabs;
   2. Display subfields directly on the form;
   3. Use numeric indicators, which was a problem in previous versions with
   the RDA database, which also uses numeric subfields. The workaround of
   using a numeric subfield as an indicator is no longer necessary.
   4. The Uploads field has been completely rewritten;
   5. Now, when editing a record, the toolbar is hidden, leaving the form
   in full-screen mode to provide greater convenience for the cataloguer.

*Statistics*
The graphs have been brought back to Statistics, but in a more dynamic form.

*Access control*
The profile editor has been redesigned; it is no longer an endless list
where you click ‘All’ and do not select everyone.

In addition to these specific points in version 3.8, there are other
improvements to the utilities in recent versions.

I made a video in Portuguese, but I think the automatic dubbing feature
helps; there may be a few errors, but you can see the changes:

There is also a post about the version on the documentation blog, for those
who prefer to read:

The demo version has also been updated:

*username:* abcd
*password:* adm

I hope you like the improvements!

Best regards,
