In respect to OAI if what they want is gather information what you need is a client for harvesting and a procedure to import in a Isis database the XML records harvested. Actually ABCD have no xml importing.<br><br>Guilda <br>

Egbert.<br><br>I tried once to implement the OAI interface that comes with ABCD and could not make it work. It works only with marc and cepal databases, the search is not implemented, so it recovers only by mfn and other issues of the protocol are not implemented. Also the windows where the results are shown is to small; I think is better to show the results in a full windows.<br>
<br> I began to fix the problems. Actually is pending:<br><ol><li>Improve the search mechanism by date</li><li>Improve the XML produced so that the site pass the validation tested in <a href="http://www.openarchives.org/Register/ValidateSite" target="_blank">http://www.openarchives.org/Register/ValidateSite</a></li>

<p><font size="2">Has anybody testing/trying/using ABCD tried the OAI interface ? Any feedback or experience would be welcome.<br>
The pan-African network 'ODINAFRICA', working with marine and oceanographic information, has shown interest to start using ABCD - after my presentation to their experts - but full OAI functionality is crucial : they want to be able to gather/collect data from the dispersed catalogs and databases for inclusion into their own repository and central catalog using OAI-PMH.<br>
