[Isis-users] Fwd: Inventory No Problem

I entered a inventory no for one book as 1539 in MARC database of the ABCD.
Then i tried to enter another inventory number as 153 to another book. but
following message appeared.

"Inventory number already exists"

I checked this in online demo also. but same thing happened. so i check what
is happening and then I realized that if we put four digit inventory number
then we can not put first three digit of that inventory number as a
inventory number for new book. i only  checked four digit number. What is
the reason for this
