Hello,

if your ABCD-webpage is not opening, you will have to check the following necessary elements to be running fine :
- is Apache running ? It is normally launched by the file ABCD_start.bat with port 9090, avoiding conflicts with possibly another application already running on port 80 (e.g. Skype). If Apache cannot run as a normal 'service' it will try to open in a console (the black CMD window which you can minimize but not close in order to keep Apache running).
If Apache cannot run for some reason (e.g. we found out that Apache 2.4 has a problem with old pre-service pack 3 of Windows XP), please check your services running (in Computer|Manage|Services) and stop or remove the running Apache if any.
- If Apache is running and 'listening' to port 9090 (as set by yourself in the ABCD installation wizard for Windows or set by default in the .ZIP archive) it will look for ABCD to reside in the folder \ABCD\www\htdocs . Please check if the page is not opening if the files are at that exact location indeed. In Windows 8 you, with administrator login, might have to create a folder 'ABCD' in the root ('\') of your hard-disk manually and giving it full access rights to everybody (with the file-manager : right-click on the folder and to to 'properties' then 'security' tab) BEFORE installing ABCD into that same folder. This way you ensure full access rights are granted.
- If you installed ABCD (using the wizard) in another folder, the correct folder will be defined in httpd.conf of your Apache conf-folder as the 'DocumentRoot' variable. Check that and change if necessary.

When Apache is running correctly and the ABCD-folders are installed into the folder named as 'DocumentRoot' in the Apache configuratoin (default=\ABCD\www\htdocs) then ABCD should open its login page at least.
The ABCD-wizard for installation in Windows (also 8) takes care of all this but if it cannot run Apache (e.g. because it was not allowed to write its configuration files) it won't finish and your configuration has to be corrected manually, or you create a full-access ABCD-folder yourself and re-install ABCD into that folder for the installation process to finish fully, which means also the Apache configuraiton will have been set correctly.

Hello,

as far as I know a database of any previous ABCD-version can be used in the version 1.2t (and later 2.0) without any migration necessary. There have not been any changes re the database-structures. So you can simply copy the database-folders (and .par and .DEF files in the par-subfolder) to the new ABCD installation.
There are (quite some) new features in the FDT but the 'old' ones are all still there. The change of some 'field-types' to 'input types' is expected to be done automatically. Please inform us if you have a problem with that.

The procedure to create and migrate a database from Micro CDS/ISIS or WinISIS to ABCD is available in the manual 'ABC of ABCD'. The chapter involved for the new version of the manual is available as a draft at the website 'http://abcd.netcat.be/files' at the lower part.
In essence it means that the existing FDT, FST and PFT can be 'copied' from exisiting databases and the ISO-export of your records can be imported into ABCD. In reality since ABCD is - as you said - 'web isis', many typical DOS or WINDOWS features of the PFT cannot be used and need to be replaced by WWW-equivalents, for which ABCD offers a nice wizard to create such PFT's.
For the FST you would best re-work the FST to use prefixes of 3 characters : 2 + '_' .

Hello Egbert,

There are many details to a database, from a previous version of the ABCD,
work correctly on a new version of ABCD, for example:
Copy the folders:
acces \ data
MyDatabase \
circulation \
copies \ data \
loanobject \ data
par \ MyDataBase.par
trans \ data
users \ data
www \ htdocs \ MyDatabase

Reviewing files as php \ php.ini and apache2.4 \ conf \ httpd.conf.

I would like to know if there is a document which has information in detail
about this process?

Thanks
Monica.

Subcampo c
1000#$aBlack Foot,$cChief,$dd. 1877$c(Spirit)
?Subcampos a y b
260##$aParis :$bGauthier-Villars
;$aChicago :$bUniversity of Chicago Press,$c1955.
?Subcampo n
24010$aInstitutiones.$nLiber
2.$nCapitulum
?Subcampo z
650#0$aReal property$zMississippi$zTippah
County$vMaps.
?

mx mibase gizmo=migizmo create=mibase2 now -all

Registros".

Saludos,

Leandro

Hi everyone,

We are making a detailed examination about ABCD and there are some
functionalities that we don't konw their purpose, we will be very glad
if someone can explain that to us. The functionalities are:

1- At Data entry / Utilities the functionality of "Unlock Database".
2- At Data entry / Utilities the functionality of "Unlock Records".
