[Isis-users] Tengo ABCD/iah corriendo en AWS - Amazon Web Services / I have ABCD/iah running on a AWS - Amazon Web Services cloud server!

Queridos amigos:

Tengo el inmenso agrado (y orgullo, debo confesar) de comunicar que acabo
de conseguir poner a funcionar una base de datos en la nube en AWS - Amazon
Web Services.

Me dí muchas vueltas, hice muchas embarradas, hasta entender todo el
proceso.
Lo estoy documentando y pondré el manual a disposición de la familia Isis
luego que termine de afinar algunos detalles. Y la URL de la base, claro.

Sólo instalé el OPAC (iah) pero mantuve la estructura por defecto de ABCD.

Creé un servidor virtual ("instancia") eligiendo el Linux de Amazon, que es
una versión de CentOS, en la plataforma de Amazon EC2, que es de uso
gratuito durante el primer año y probablemente me costará unos 5-6 USD por
mes a partir de allí. El cobro es flexible, depende de los recursos que se
usan.

Luego instalé el LAMP de la distribución de Amazon.

Y luego... echando a perder hasta aprender, configuré todo e instalé el
ABCD y mi base. Ahora estoy subiendo unas 5.000 imágenes, lo que va a tomar
toda la noche.

Ahora entiendo porqué el manual ABC de ABCD es tan vago en relación a la
instalación de ABCD bajo linux. Je je je  😉

Dear Isis friends;

I have the great pleasure (and pride, I must confess) to inform that I have
just now managed to set up an Isis database on a AWS - Amazon Web Services
cloud server.

I fumbled a lot and did all kinds of mistakes in the beginning until I
finally understood the whole process. I am documenting it and will put the
manual at your disposal as soon as I have finished ironing out some
details. And the URL of the database, of course.

I only installed the ABCD/iah part, but maintained the default ABCD file
structure.

I created a virtual server ("instance" AWS calls it) with Amazon's Linux (a
CentOS compatible version), on the Amazon EC2 platform. This is free during
one year and will probably cost me 5-6 USD per month from there on. The
pricing is flexible, depending on resources used.

Then I installed the LAMP as offered by Amazon.

And finally... I fumbled around until I managed to have linux, apache and
ABCD/iah correctly configured and my database running. Now I'm uploading
some 5.000 images, that will take all night.

Now I understand why the "ABC for ABCD" manual is so vague regarding linux
instalations! Hehehe... 😉

given me hints and help about installing ABCD on an external server.
